This morning I stepped into my office and the first face that I got to see was that of Prof. Rajul. She was so charged with excitement. I was curious what it was about. I must say I was no less impressed with her story.
Prof. Rajul stays on the campus and probably her ‘connect’ with the students is far stronger than many of us. In the evening, yesterday, the omnipresent students engulfed her and she walked into our beautiful auditorium where the students from all 3 institutes of the campus (SIC) were ready to present their cultural show for raising funds for their own activity of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)… “Prayatna”… that means “endeavour” in Sanskrit. This endeavour is to uplift the lives of slum children around the campus. The students support their educational activities, bring them on the campus and sometimes also present a cultural programme in which they dance or sing along with these children. For the show their only motivation is these children. The institutes are spectators. Isn’t that amazing?
My mailbox also had Prof. Rajul ‘s piece of outpouring which I would like to share. She says:
“I just stepped out of the Auditorium and thought to pen down some of the reflections on today’s show put up by SIC students for Praytna, a CSR initiative of SIC. The show was indeed worth appreciating. The Auditorium was jam packed and I really appreciate the efforts of all the students who put up this event. They not only collected good donation and sponsorships but also showcased some of their finest talents in events management and cultural program. I really feel proud to be part of SCIT as our students again showcased best performance both on stage and in event management behind the curtains, not forgetting their cultural roots. There was a flute and synthesizer jugalbandi by Mr. Manas (student) and Mr. Hemant (Staff), this indeed mesmerized the audience. I was not able to attend the full program as I was on duty as an examiner in SCMHRD, but saw the SCITiian’s items. I am confident that these students are becoming the torchbearer of change…. Let’s co-hold and keep this torch ignited in these ignited mind”.
