The last few days have been like never before.  Swine flu in Pune has in a way swayed all actions into its management  and we are no different.  In the early stages we were busy not just allaying unwarranted fears but also stepping up precautionary measures on the campus.  It is but natural that students listening to media would not realize ground realities and a little bit of panic had set in. Now it is all quiet.
Hinjewadi campus has been truly safe till now. There have been numerous steps taken.  Right from educating students and campus staff to raising the level of cleanliness across. Communication has been the key. But most impressive act has been that of 7 doctors who are students of SCMHRD  but volunteered to come to the aid of the Health Centre. A special camp was set up. Within two days all those suffering from any symptoms of cold cough or fever were checked and given due advice.  A team of health centre doctors came over and explained procedures and also talked to the students. 
Now we only hope the closing of the educational institutes till Aug 18, 2009 bears desired impact on this new avatar of flu!

Sourabh, our senior student of MBA was doing his summer internship in Delhi when we received the news that SCIT had been awarded an award as a “Leader of Excellence”.  There was an invitation to receive it in person at Delhi.  Prof. Sharmili and I were in joyful dilemma on who could receive it. We thought it would be no better than our own student who should represent SCIT.  After all, the student symbolizes what we are. So Sourabh was the proud SCITiian at the podium. Here is what he says:
“Sunday morning gave me an exuberating experience. It was the Tech education award ceremony wherein B- Schools and engineering colleges from across the nation were called to participate. SCIT stood out of the mass and received Best Technical infrastructure award, reinforcing the fact that SCIT has again emerged as the pioneer in the plethora of knowledge providing centers.
The aura of the award ceremony was very imposing amidst the dignitaries from the industry and Mr. Ramesh Chopra from EFY group.  Even more exhilarating was the awesome selection process with 3 rounds of rigorous filtrations in which from 2000 colleges across the nation 187 colleges cleared upto the final quest.  Then after two more rounds, 10 colleges were selected as “Leaders of Excellence”.  SCIT was one of them. It was a very proud moment for me when SCIT’s name was announced.  I walked up to the stage to receive the trophy from the eminent personality Mr. Rayees Ahmed, Chairman Howell. Amidst congratulations from everyone, I gave insights about the technical infrastructure of SCIT —  multi platform labs, SAP lab, POC lab; library with numerous books, video CDs and journals; and a special mention on SCIT Directors blog and student’s initiatives.
All in all it was a day to remember!”
